Review: Tabacon Hot Springs

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERATabacon Hot Springs at the base of Arenal Volcano and is a beautiful place. The jungle feel and the warm waters is a great way to spend the day. You can check out their resort by following the following link. We did not spend anytime at the hotel portion, but you should know that the hotel and the Hot Springs are in different locations. They are not far and from what I could see they have  a shuttle service that takes you back and forth.

There is a spa on site, but we did not use it facilities either. We were so enjoying the environment and the waters the time just got away from us. The picture to the left was just one of many streams you are allowed to get in and splash around. There are so many of them. The place is huge and so beautiful! There are sitting areas and there is even a bar way deep in the middle of the place. It was so nice! We found it by accident on our second trip there. Yes we have been there 2 times so far we liked it that much.

There is a restaurant on site which had some pretty good food. We were there for lunch and ti was a buffet style meal. The food can be included with the price of admission and I think it only adds $10 per person. The buffet is well worth $10. Here are some pictures of the food they had to offer.

There was another section of food that was all closed trays. It was all the hot entrees. They had beef, chicken, pork, and fish. There was also a pasta section as well. The food was very good! I loved the salad bar! I always love a good salad bar!

There we so many place to get into the water. I’m just going to let the pictures of the place speak for themselves here. So check them out.

These are just a few pictures the place is huge and it is wonderful! We were there 2x in a month. We went once on Xmas even and than again with friends a week or so later. Now most people will go and stay the night and I didn’t understand why until our trip with our friends. Our 1st trip we left early and got there around lunch time. Went in had lunch and then explored the pool and rivers. We finished and were completely exhausted by like 2 or 3pm so we left to head home. It was great. The drive there was about 3 hours from Atenas, but I did get lost a bit. I think the drive home was about 2 1/2 hours.

Now the 2nd time we went with friends we left a little later and stooped along the way for lunch instead of at the Hot springs. So we were there much later and we left around 4:30 to head home. Well that was a mistake! It gets dark, and foggy, and very dangerous in my opinion to drive. The roads are twisty and windy and some are just horrible. It took us about 4 to 4 1/2 hours to get home as I was driving very slowly and very cautiously.  So if you plan on driving there and back leave early and give yourself plenty of time and leave at about 3pm. N o later or you could be in trouble. Unless you like white knuckle driving! Which I don’t.

So lets warp this one up. Price reasonable for the day and the meal, food was excellent, the waters were wonderful. The staff was helpful and friendly. So I give this resort 5 seashell1out of 5! I don’t do this often, but this place deserves it! Without a doubt!

Pura Vida!
